The band is celebrating 50 Heavy Metal Years by showing their spirits haven’t aged since they formed in 1969 in Birmingham. Still dressed in spikes, rhinestones, and leather, Judas Priest gathered an energetic crowd of metalheads head banging along for the entire two-hour set. Frontman Rob Halford led the band through deeper cuts, more recent songs, and the classics including You Got Another Thing Coming and Breaking The Law. Live and RAW from the pit where the pushing, shoving, headbanging, fights, security breakups and general mayhem was in full force! You can't kill rock and roll! Towards the end of the concert, Judas Priest’s original guitarist Glenn Tipton joined the stage to play the final songs, including the finale of Living After Midnight. Tipton stopped touring with the band a few years ago after being diagnosed with Parkinson’s Disease, but proved last night nothing can stop him. Multiple audience members rushed onto the stage during the encore set, but were quickly chased by security and thus stage dove back into the audience after their few seconds of fame. They followed that up with a string classics that included, Operation Mindcrime, Walking in the Shadows and Resistance before they unleashed Man in the Machine from their latest The Verdict LP. Man in the Machine features ripping guitar solos by Michael Wilton, scorching vocals by La Torre and a driving rhythm fueled by guitarist Mike Stone, bassist Eddie Jackson and powerhouse drummer, Casey Grillo.

 « La musique pop, c’est horrible » s’indignait Jim Reid dans le Guardian en 2017. Le ton est donné. Il faut dire que les gars de @The Jesus and Mary Chain Official sont plus adeptes de gros son qui tâche que des jolies mélodies. Dans Ground Control, ils font sonner les meilleurs titres de leur discographie. Tout commence en 1983 quand deux frangins d’East Kilbride, banlieue de Glasgow, Jim et William Reid lâchent leur boulot d’ouvrier pour se lancer dans la musique. Dans un climat de crise économique qui sévit sur la Grande Bretagne ils montent The Jesus and Mary Chain un groupe à contre-courant, alors que la mode à la synth-pop. Rejoint par Douglas Hart - qui quitte le groupe en 1991- et Bobby Gillespie, ils forgent leur réputation avec des sets très brefs à coups de larsens et de distorsions sonores et s’affirment comme chef de fil de la noise pop. Plutôt du genre bad boy, il leur arrive de saccager le matériel et de provoquer des émeutes dans le public. Rois de l’irrévérence, ils font toute leur carrière à rebours des modes et n’hésitent pas à railler les Stones dans la chanson Nine Million Rainy Days. Un peu plus sages qu’à leur début, mais toujours animés par un esprit punk, ils nous font traverser leur discographie, de Psychocandy (1985) à Munki (1998), en passant par Darklands (1987). Un concert qui nous fait naviguer entre brutalité et délicatesse.
